How do I get there?
The camp is at Merricks Lodge, 3670 Frankston-Flinders Rd, Merricks VIC.
From Melbourne: Take the Monash Freeway outbound, until you reach the South Gippsland Freeway (sign pointing to Hastings). This becomes the Westernport highway (and is also known as Dandenong-Hastings Road). Remain on this road for over 30kms, until you reach Hastings. Here you you merge with Frankston-Flinders Road, and soon you will need to turn right then left to remain on this road. Remain on Frankston-Fliners Road, until you have gone through the townships of Bittern, Balnarring and Merricks. The driveway to the campsite is on your right hand side. If you reach Point Leo road, you have gone about 500m too far.
Does PYV provide transport to camp?
Getting to or from camp is the responsibility of parents. If you are stuck for a lift, you can contact the camp registrar, who may be able to put you in contact with another parent from your area, with whom you could make your own arrangements.
If you intend to catch the train to camp, please see the details at the bottom of the page.
How can I be sure if my child is registered on camp?
Response letters will be sent out to all registered campers within one week of the registration due date. If you have not received your letter by 1th Mar, please call 0406 238 371 to check whether your registration has been received. Tip - you might want to check your email "junk folder" first.
[update 21/2/08: camp receipt letters will be sent via email. It will be an attachment in .pdf format. If you use a windows computer and cannot read the file, you can download a free .pdf reader from here.]
What if I/my child is sick on the day of camp?
Please don't send sick people to camp!! Let us know that they/you aren't coming, and you will be refunded.
Who is eligible for the subsidized price of $100?
You must be studying at least three-quarter time (or be on some sort of disability pension).
How do I apply for further subsidies?
There are no additional funds available from PYV to help with Senior Camp. However, we highly recommend that if you are in financial difficulty, you consult with the leadership in your local church.
What standards of screening are there for camp leaders?
The accreditation process for all of our camp leaders has two main elements:
- They fill in an application that follows the requirement of the Presbyterian Church of Victoria’s “Breaking the Silence” Policy, which includes reference checks,
- They must apply for a “Working With Children Check,” which is monitored by the department of justice, and is the replacement for the “Police Check.”
