(14/9/07) With 130 people booked in, PYV Junior Camp is now full. Receipt letters have been posted to all registered campers. If you have not received yours by Wed 19th September, please contact PYV as per the directions on the camp form. For directions to camp, please visit the Junior Camp FAQ page.

(10/07/07) Camp forms have been posted, and are also available for download. Click here to download the camp form, or here to go to the Junior Camp FAQ page. Online payments can be made here.

(17/07/07) Good news!!! PYV has made an error on both the camp form and the online payment process. The fee has been listed as $55 instead of the correct amount of $65. However, we have decided to offer this $55 as a special-early-bird-web-price only until July 29th.

(30/07/07) The special-early-bird-web-price is now over, and the price of Junior Camp has reverted to the correct amount of $65.

21C Subsidies

(23/08/07) Are you keen to go to 21C but can't afford it? If you are quick, you may be able to obtain a subsidy to go. Read the application form on the 21C website for information on how to apply.

(23/8/07) 21C is a national conference that aims to invest in the lives of young leaders (18 – 28 years) within our denomination in order to encourage, inspire and equip them for gospel ministry.  This year’s 21C conference is to be held at Merroo Conference Centre (Sydney) from September 7-10, 2007. Click here for more information.

(12/8/07) The Presbyterian Theological College in Box Hill is running another six-week course on Introduction to New Testament, from Wednesday August 8th - September 12th. To view the flyer and more details, click here. To visit the PTC website, click here.

(5/4/07) Organised by the CENC committee of the Presy Church of Victoria, this is an awesome opportunity for young Christian songwriters to get their stuff out there. And just think, you could be part of the process of encouraging our churches to use inspiring songs that proclaim God's grace in a way that seems true to today's generation. To download the entry form, with more details, click here .

Lost Property

(15/3/07) Did you leave anything at Senior Camp? Check out the photos and email admin(at)pyv.org.au if they belong to you (login required).

Volleyball Competition

(18/07/07) Congratulations to the winners of this year's PYV Volleyball tournament. Burwood Community, the carry-over champs, continued their success by taking out the  men's competition. However it was Croydon Hills who were too strong for them in the mixed comp. Surrey Hills maintained their unmatched record in the cheerleading. Full results table and photos will be available soon.

Ministers Family Camp - Great Success!

(8/07/07) Ministers Family Camp creche, primary and youth program was a massive success. Over the 4 days, the 3 teams were able to minister to over 100 PK's.  A massive thanks to Linda Webster, and team, Suzy Vines, and team, and Jess Leach, and team.  You guys are awesome!

(18/2/07) The AGM is a necessary event in PYV's year, however it is usually unpopular and poorly attended (for obvious reasons). However this year's turnout was encouraging with 24 people in attendance, the highest for a number of years. Highlights of the day included:

  • Kingsley's final remarks as he stepped down as President
  • hearing of CENC's plans to visit churches to promote PYV & CENC
  • the number of young enthusiastic leaders in attendance
  • the financial strength of PYV
  • discussing the possibility of employing future workers.

When it came to election time there was an embarrassment of riches; thirteen delegates were nominated for ten Council positions.  Much discussion took place as to whether to amend the Constitution to expand Council, however this was decided against.  The vote took place and will be left in the hands of CENC to determine the final makeup of the 2007 Council.  CENC meet this coming Thursday, so we should have news for you in about a week.  All up, the day was a great success and showed the great work God is doing in PYV in raising up people, resources and vision for the future.

(21/2/07) The PYV Annual Report for the 2006 year is now available for download.  The document was presented at the recent AGM, and contains reports about all aspects of PYV's work in 2006 (both the memorable and forgettable moments). Reading the document is an invaluable way of learning from our mistakes and making PYV even better in 2007.

(24/2/07) With Kingsley recently stepping down as PYV President (due to ill health), he thought it was a good time to share with others how God has used PYV in his life to bring about His wonderful purposes.  Many people played a part in his testimony (although some are not named), and he hopes you find it encouraging to read the brief testimony.

New PYV President

(18/6/07) With Russell about to head overseas for a month, as well as getting married later in the year, he has decided to temporarily step aside as PYV President. From 1 July 2007, the presidency will pass onto the more than capable hands of Alex Venn. If all goes to plan, Russell will resume the presidency in 2008. No matter who is President they can be contacted via president@pyv.org.au. Please pray for, and pass on your best wishes to Alex as he takes on the role.

Senior Camp followup

(13/3/07) Senior Camp is over and was a roaring success. For those on camp please send photos and reports to webmaster(at)pyv.org.au.  Unfortunately due to technical issues the talks were not recorded. Our sincere apologies for this. More Senior Camp information will follow soon, so keep checking back.

Girls Day Out Report (& more photos)

(21/6/07) On Saturday June 16th we had the PYV Girls Day Out at Heathmont Presbyterian Church. Michelle Macintosh gave two talks; one on a passage from Ruth and the other from Genesis. She talked about each of these passages while also making them very applicable to our every day common struggles and thinking. Many girls agreed and said that they had learnt something new about each passage and never realised how applicable they could be to our modern day life. We had a time to get to know other girls on the day by having small discussion groups which we discussed solutions to some scenarios we were given, prayed and talked about Michelle's talk. It was a enjoyable time, to get to know other girls, eat food, including healthy Subway rolls for lunch and chat. A big thank you to Michelle Macintosh for delivering such great talks and for all the girls who came!

(27/3/07) Senior Camp 2007 was my first ever Senior Camp and it was such an awesome weekend!  We had 4 sensational speakers who spoke on understanding human sexuality Biblically.  Matt James spoke to us all about what the Bible teaches about sex and romance.  Helen Bell spoke to the girls about how to be content in our singleness and focus on developing a strong relationship with Jesus.  I can’t really say what Toby Mac spoke about, seeing as he spoke to the guys, but I’m told it was sensational!  Vinesy did the dating talk and we looked at whether to date or not to date.  The talks were very clear and to the point and taught us heaps!  One of my many ‘wow moments’ was during the worship times just joining together with a hundred people singing our hearts out in praise to God.  It was just an amazing atmosphere to be with so many people all worshiping God together!  I can’t wait until next Senior Camp, and I look forward to seeing everyone again at the other PYV events.

(28/4/07) Some "Punk" ideas:
- black/dark coloured clothes
- crazy hair (i.e. spikes, colours, mussed up style)
- accessories may include: bracelets, necklaces, chains (like the ones you have to link keys onto belt), badges, safety pins, black/studded jewellery and accessories, body art, fake earrings/studs, etc.
- shoes: converse, skate shoes, doc martins
- ripped/tattered t-shirts and pants/jeans
- black tights/knee high socks
- t-shirts with punk/rock bands on them
- fishnets
- ties
- tartan patterned clothing (i.e. old golf pants)
- black nail polish
- eyeliner
- sparkles around eyes (girls)

Please don't worry too much about the dress theme: the idea is to have a bit of fun. But of course, feel free to take on any, some, or none of the above ideas! However, if your parents have a concern about the theme, feel free to ignore the punk theme - we definitely still want you to come! The parallel idea for the talk is about standing up for Jesus and standing out from the crowd. The punk theme is simply a way to illustrate this.

1 Corinthians 10:31 applies here ("So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God"). Whatever you wear, choose artwork and clothes glorifying to God (for some of you, this will mean not having fights with your parents about what you wear!).

We look forward to seeing you there!

(30/4/07) Due to popular demand the Social RSVP has been extended to Wednesday 2nd May. If you have any questions please email Brad

(25/1/07) The dates for PYV events in 2007 have been finalised! Therefore now is a great time to view the calendar and 'events' page and make sure that the dates are put in your diary, and your Church and Youth Group's calendars.  Today a mailout will go out to our mailing list and ministers that will include the 2007 calendar, AGM information and Senior Camp forms. If you want to change your mailout preferences, login, click "update your account" and then tick\untick the "Receive news via post?" box.  Everyone who receives the mailout has a login account (whether they know it or not). To find this out or for all enquires please email webmaster(at)pyv.org.au . Please note that the mailout generally goes to the eldest PYVer at each address, therefore if your brother/sister receives the mailout please don't add yourself.  A huge thanks go to Fran Davis (Wyndham) and Rachel Stasse (Geelong) for their efforts to make the mailout happen.

(7/4/07) Organisers are working hard to finalise the details of the 2007 PYV Social.  However, the next mailout will still be a week or two off so please save the date 5 May in your diary and details will follow. Please keep checking online regularly for more details.

More Summer Camp Photos #3

(29/1/07) Further photos from Summer Camp are now available (login required). Thanks to Peter McDonald.

(21/1/07) Very few people ever attend the PYV AGM, with approx 25 people being the largest attendance in memory. Why is this so? Usually it's because PYVers do not know what happens at the AGM and who it is for.  The AGM (or Annual General Meeting) is not the most exciting of PYV events, however of all our events it has the greatest capacity to effect change in PYV. The purpose of the AGM is three-fold:

  1. to discuss the last twelve months in PYV
  2. to elect a new council
  3. to discuss the future of PYV.

So who is the AGM for? It's for PYVers and church people who are interested in where PYV is going and what has happened in PYV in the last year. If you are 18+ and have lots of ideas about PYV and what you would like to see happen, it's the perfect event to attend. If you are passionate about growing into PYV leadership, nominating for council is strongly encouraged.  There will be lots of support and help from the other councillors as you grow into the position.

So as you can see, the AGM is not just for old people and the PYV council. The day is everyone's chance to have their say about PYV, whether they nominate for council or not. See you there! (and hopefully 50 other people!)

(18/1/07) Details of the upcoming 2007 Senior Camp are now available.  Camp is open to those in Grade 11 and up.  The camp will be held between 9th - 12th March 2007 at Lady Northcote Recreation Camp (near Bacchus Marsh).  Camp forms will be available shortly.

Junior Camp soooo much fun!

(19/9/06) This was my first ever Junior Camp and it was soooooo much fun in so many ways! The camp theme was “Walk like an Egyptian” and Shady Mehanni was our genuine Egyptian on-camp Pharoah. All the games were very amusing and were based on the ten plagues brought upon Egypt. On the Saturday, we were blessed with some hot weather and went on a very long walk down to the beach, where we played tug-o-war and search for buried Egyptian treasure. The speaker was Douglas Robertson and his talks were about the Exodus and were both interesting and inspiring for many people (including myself!) I also made a lot of new, great friends whom I can’t wait to see again next year.

May Council Meeting

Michelle & Kingsley Davidson, Dave Assender (CENC rep), Andrew Vines, Alex Venn

2nd half of the year - be prepared for changes!

(19/6/06) Each year we send out an annual calendar of PYV for the year to help you plan your Youth Group program (or just your social program!). As you can imagine planning 12 months in advance is incredibly difficult, due to the large number of events and people involved. We had to change the day of the Girls\Guys Day out in May and unfortunately our plans are proving no more solid for the rest of the year. It is likely that the Volleyball will be held on 4 November & Fuelled Country will be held later in the year (rather than 7 Oct). Therefore we'd appreciate your understanding, and ask you to be prepared for some date changes in the second half of the year. As a result of this we are considered printing and sending out a revised 2006 PYV Calendar. Please keep visiting www.pyv.org.au to keep up-to-date. For more information please contact events@pyv.org.au.

(19/6/06) As you may have seen on the website recently, unfortunately Ashburton Pool & Recreation centre was booked out on 12 August! We have therefore decided to move the Volleyball competition to later in the year when the centre is available. This is likely to be 4 November, however this is yet to be confirmed. Please read above for more information.

(23/5/06) The PYV Girls Day Out was on 20 May and it was a fabulous day and fortunately very nice weather. We had roughly thirty people rock up including leaders which was great, some coming all the way from the country to be there! The room was decorated beautifully, with lots of colour and specialness thanks to the many people that helped with that included with many snacks and drinks.

Kathy was a wonderful speaker who talked to us in the first session about self acceptance and identity explaining who we were and how we define ourselves and in the second session about the framework of our lives and how life is all about choices. We did some fun quizzes learning valuable information about being more extrovert or introvert showing us how we are all different and how we should be aware of that, our time spent with God and friends. We also did a quiz of what’s your love language which was really interesting in finding out how we all had different love languages and how it was useful to know others love languages as well, knowing how to best serve others and to know our own so others knew how best to serve us.

We had a break for lunch and then we got back into it, looking at friendships, relationships and sexuality and I’m sure Kathy had many facts about things that many of us didn’t know. The last thing we did was get into small groups where we were given a scenario and in our group, we talked about what we could do in that situation. We had one spokesman from each group come up and tell us how they would best handle their scenario. Every group presented had many helpful ideas and solutions for their scenario.

Overall the day was really effective in becoming aware of issues that do occur frequently in life along with helpful ways to think about what we can do for ourselves and our friends at that time. There were many laughs, great chatting in between and positive feedback from many people who appreciated the day and had fun! So it was good to see so many people attend and hopefully next year will be even better!

Hannah Veith

(21/5/06) There was an amazing contrast between the girls and guys days on Saturday. From all reports the girls day was a complete success with 30 girls being challenged, building relationships and generally having fun. We hope to have a report of the day on the site soon. If you have any feedback or photos from the day please send them to webmaster(at)pyv.org.au. The day can be discussed in the forums here. (login required)

However the guys day was a failure, as a negligible turnout meant the day did not go ahead. We're really sorry that the demand for the day that we foresaw didn't materialise. We had some great talks lined up and believe that the young men of our church really need to discuss these matters. We will persevere though and hope to incorporate the talks into Summer Camp 2006-07. A big thanks to Adam Ridgewell, Matt James and Clinton Le Page for their efforts and their amazing graciousness in dealing with the disappointment of the day.

(11/4/06) Outlook Camps are aimed at encouraging Christian young adults to use their various gifts to spread the gospel and build the church. The camp form for 2006 is now available for download.  For more information please see the camp form or email events@pyv.org.au

(31/5/06) Outlook Camp is going to be great! It's now time to send in your camp forms. Click the link above to download the form. For more information please see the camp form or email events@pyv.org.au. We look forward to seeing you there and sharing a memorable experience!

Help wanted!

(8/5/06) We need your help! Here's what we're looking for...someone young, who is into computers and loves a challenge. We want to find the right person to train up to run www.pyv.org.au on a day to day basis. The person will need to be skilled with computers, have ready access to the internet and show a lot of initiative. If you think you're this person please email webmaster@pyv.org.au, outlining your involvement with PYV, your computer skills and any relevant experience you've had.

(6/4/06)  Fuelled city was run last Saturday at the Presbyterian Theological College in Box Hill.  Around 40 people attended during the day and were privileged to hear a variety of first class presenters address them in their specialised field.  Prof. Allan Harman started off the chilly morning with a hearty message about presenting the Gospel to all nations.  Allan is truly a treasure and anyone who has the chance to hear him speak should do so.  After the breaking the silence session, everyone dug into a big lunch.

Whether you listened to Rev. Bob Carner talk about the finer points of cell groups and small group ministry, or Michael Ellison discuss the complex nature of church business tax and accounting laws, or Nathan Seeker and Stuart Conkie talk about children’s ministry and creative teaching, you would have walked out of fuelled with a bucket load of ideas and a renewed passion for serving God.

We encourage all who were not able to attend fuelled to do so at the next running on Saturday 7th October.  (venue TBA)  Churches; please consider sending your elders, teachers and youth to this day to learn and to be instructed on these topics.  The investment I’m sure, will be ten fold when they are able to implement what they have learnt, back in their local congregation.

A massive shout-out to Tanya Assender who slaved all day preparing and organising the food side of things.  Thanks Tan, your support and continued dedication to PYV  is monumental!  Thanks also to Dave from CENC, who spent many days, organising and ensuring fuelled continues to be a top class training event.

(20/3/06) If anyone has any photos from Senior Camp or would like to write an article about your experience on camp please email webmaster(at)pyv.org.au. We are always looking for your input to make pyv.org.au the best it can be!

(14/3/06) Senior Camp has come and gone! A great group of about 100 people, great weather and engaging talks by Andrew Venn made the camp a total success. Andrew's talks challenged us to not only "talk the talk" but to always "walk the walk" in our faith. A huge thanks to convenors Paul Drew and Sarah Brightwell, cooks Steph Gear (& Amy!), Andrew & Marilyn Venn and PYNSW camp parents Murray and Rachel Norman. If you have any photos or videos please send them to webmaster@pyv.org.au. Hopefully we'll have some photos up soon! Also, why not discuss the event in the forums? (login required)

New PYV logo!

(19/2/06) At yesterday's AGM, a new logo for PYV was unanimously adopted! Designed by Doc Watson, we intend to gradually introduce the new logo in 2006. AGM 2006

(19/2/06) PYV's 2006 AGM was held yesterday at St Kilda Presbyterian Church. The turnout of 19 people was quite disappointing, however the enthusiasm of those present was encouraging.  At the meeting we heard about:

  • Event Reports
  • Financial Reports
  • 2006 Calendar
  • New PYV logo
  • Admin Assistant Update
  • 5 Year Plan Update
  • Youth Worker Update
  • ThA Update

The sheer number of changes taking place within PYV is amazing and for that we praise God. However, the main event at the AGM is election of the 2006 council.  It's our pleasure to annouce that the new council is:

  • Andrew Vines (President)
  • Kingsley Davidson (Treasurer)
  • Michell Davidson (Secretary)
  • Russell Graham
  • Rene Jabour
  • Alex Venn
  • Kirsty Watson
  • Sarah Weber

If you couldn't make it, the best way to keep track of what is going on in PYV is to read the 2006 AGM booklet (which includes the 2005 Annual Reports).

(4/2/06) Due to unforseen circumstances, the first ever Guys & Girls Day Out has moved to 20 May (not 6 May as printed on the 2006 PYV Calendars). That will teach us for getting the calendars out so early this year!!

(29/3/06) Are you coming to the Fuelled training day? It's on this Saturday (1st April) at the Presbyterian Theological College, Box Hill North. There will be a keynote address from Allan Harman, training in the the PCV's "Breaking the Silence" policy, as well as three elective streams:

- Small Group ministry (Rev Robert Carner)

- Church Admin (Michael Ellison)

- Kid's ministry (Stuart Conkie from OAC)

The good news is that all PYV accredited leaders will be eligible for the discount price ($20) if they ring before the day. For more info you can download a flyer from www.pyv.org.au or call Dave on 03 5249 5508.

Hope to see you there, In Christ, PYV Council

(8/3/06) Details about 2006's first Fuelled Training day are now available.  The days are an awesome chance to receive practical training and advice in serving God in a number of different circumstances. Download the flyer for more info.

(19/2/06) A problem with submitting camper details online for Senior Camp has now been resolved.  For those who have already paid and wish to submit a camper registration online please click here.

(2/2/06) We have a new topic for Senior Camp! We're really sorry for the confusion but please disregard the camp forms. The new topic is...."Signs of Life"

Signs of Life - the CREATION of Life - we’ll take a look at Jesus’ parable of the sower [Mt.13]. What are the options when we are confronted by the preaching of God’s word? We’ll talk about hearing God’s word, in order for you to check your response to Christ; “same old, same old...”, “Yeah, that’s cool”, “Maybe…but…”, Got to have it!”, etc. The idea is to help you determine where you might be as far as Christ is concerned.

Signs of Life - FAITH - we’re going to take a look at some other Christians and how they handled hearing the gospel and how that response showed itself in their lives and the impact it had upon others. “Making an exhibition of myself” will explore the practical meaning of professing faith in Christ from 1 & 2 Thessalonians.

Signs of Life - WORKS - we’ll continue to follow this group of Thessalonian Christians as they learn to serve Christ. “Not just a cardboard cutout” will give you an appreciation for the observable, quantifiable realities of imitating Christ by what you do, and how it’s not an option but a necessity!

Signs of Life - ROBUSTNESS - will take a look at those who lead us; those who we listen to and perhaps venerate. “No room for gurus” challenges us to be discerning about those whose word and ways we may follow and why Christians can loose their way through false or inadequate teaching. We’re not made perfect when we believe. It’s a real struggle to throw off the habits of a lifetime - we’ll touch on that and finish with the very real benefits of belonging to Christ in a world that is hostile to Him, and His brothers and sisters. It’s about toughening up.

(21/1/06) Senior Camp 2006 can be paid for online via Visa or Mastercard. The cost is $100 + a $2.50 fee for online payments. If you have any questions please email events@pyv.org.au.

(23/9/05) Fuelled training days have been specifically designed to provide practical support to local churches in all areas of the state, so that ministers, elders, Sunday school teachers and other leaders are better prepared in their different ministries. PYV, in conjunction with the Victorian Christian Education and Nurture Committee and Presbyterian Youth in NSW, is bringing you a day of seminars and workshops about the different ministries within your local church and to help equip you in these areas. The first “Fuelled Training Day” was held at Heathmont Presbyterian Church on Saturday July 23. A repeat “Fuelled Training Day” will be held at Bendigo Presbyterian Church on Saturday October 15. The day will run from 9:30am—4:30pm. We encourage you to invite as many people as you can, so that this training day may better equip you and your congregation for ministry within the local church. Click the link above for more info or download the registration form here.

(17/8/05) I think the bushdance was the best one we've had for years and my highlight was the food! In case you didn't know, the food from the night was put on by Heathmont Presbyterian Church and wasn't it magnificent? PYV can primarily thank Danielle Smith for her tireless efforts and co-ordination. We are also greatly indebted to Andrew & Marilyn Venn, Pete & Claire Dunstan, Alex & Jess Venn, Allyson Kop and Gnaire Sandry. Let's just hope we can convince them to do it again next year!

(28/7/05) The Victorian Christian Education and Nurture Committee (CENC) and Presbyterian Youth in NSW in conjunction with PYV of course (!) brought a fantastic day of training to more than 60 people.  The level and scope of the topics covered gave all who attended (either children's or youth ministry) a greater understanding of their role as workers for the gospel.

We all heard a fantastic presentation of what it means to be a servant of Christ at the commencement of the day.  This set the tone for the workshops and put us in a great frame of mind to understand our roles as leaders in youth ministry.  Everyone also learnt more about practically implementing the PCV child protection policy 'Breaking the Silence'.

Thanks to all involved.  It was a great time of growth and learning. For those who missed out, we will be repeating the day in Bendigo on Saturday the 15th October. For more details click the link above.

(17/9/05) Junior Camp is this weekend and we hope that those lucky enough to make it to the sold out camp are having a great time, getting to know new people and learning lots about our God. Once the camp is over, please send your photos to webmaster@pyv.org.au and we'll see what you've been up to.

(17/8/05) The response to the new $35 Junior Camp has been amazing & the camp is now full! As a result we are now not accepting any more registrations. Should you have any questions please contact Steve Duncanson (see the camp form for contact details). See you on camp!

(11/8/05) It looks like this year's Junior Camp is going to be sold out....so get your registration in as soon as possible. Registration can be made online (below)

(11/6/05) Congratulations to Heathmont Presbyterian Church who defeated Clayton Presbyterian Church to win the 2005 PYV mixed Volleyball competition & to the Korean Presbyterian Church who defeated Burwood Community Presbyterian Church to win the 2005 mens PYV Volleyball competition. Surrey Hills Presbyterian Church won the best cheer leading team award. The tournament keeps getting bigger with 37 teams entering, even though it was the Queen's Birthday weekend and the State Youth Games. A huge thanks goes to David Gillard who ran a well-oiled event at his first attempt and was up late last night finalising the draw. Words cannot express my admiration to the follow people who turn up to event after event and always step up and offer their full support, even when they're not the event organiser; Alex & Jess Venn, Kingsley (Ned) Davidson, Michelle Davidson, Andrew Vines, Rene Jabour, Kirsty Watson. PYV is a great organisation because of their sevant leadership. Photos and full results will follow soon. If you have anything to add, please email webmaster@pyv.org.au.

Winning mixed, mens & cheerleading teams

(5/6/05) Follow the link to view the rules for the PYV Volleyball competition 2005. As this is a social competition please note that the rules are different from official volleyball and are always judged in the light of the player and situation involved. We hope everyone can enjoy the day and not get bogged down in the specifics of the rules. Please notify as many of your players as you can, so that most people will know the rules before coming. We look forward to seeing you there!

(3/6/05) A reminder that team registrations for Volleyball are meant to be in by 4th June. Please be kind to event organiser Dave Gillard, and get them in asap or give him a call. The easiest way is to register online. Thanks for your understanding!

Social Photos

(15/5/05) Unfortunately, I didn't bring a camera, but I saw lots of them around, so please email your photos through to webmaster@pyv.org.au. Bec Stasse has already sent in 8 photos, please keep them coming! (login required to view photos)

(15/5/05) The guys from Ballarat really know how to put on a good time. Nearly 200 people enjoyed lively music from DJ Reuben Owen, a mind-blowing talk from Rev John Stasse and enough food to sink a small floatilla of ships. Huge thanks from PYV to Bec Stasse and Jo Hardy for being the most amazingly professional of organisers.

(15/5/05) I heard a whisper that the powers of PYV Councll will combine to enter a team in this year's volleyball competition. So I hope everyone has started practising, because the PYV Council are going to be tough to beat :)

(11/5/05) The social is this Saturday!! It should be great. Click above to view a map of Ballarat to see where the social is. Look out for a thin pink line and arrow to take you to the venue.

(3/5/05) Have any great ideas for this year's Summer Camp theme? Why not join the discussion on the forums? (login required). Thanks to Laura & Tiffany!

(1/5/05) We know that getting to the social in Ballarat could be a problem for some of you younger PYV'ers. So here's two ideas if you are having problems:

1) Talk to the leaders of your church youth group, see if you can all go up as a group. It will be easier for everyone and will add to the fun of the night. If your Youth Group hasn't planned it as an event, see if you can arrange something informally.

2) Give event co-organiser Bec Stasse a call. In the forums she writes "specially for those over 2 hours away travelling might be a problem, just give me a ring (phone number on the flyer!) and we'll see what we can sort out!!"

Senior Camp ages - what do you think?

(1/5/05) PYV Council is considering the idea of placing an age cap on Senior Camp 2006 at 25 years old. Why are we considering this? Two main reasons: 1) to make Senior Camp a little more focused, so that the camp speaker and camp convenors have an easier task in organising talks and activities that are relevant and useful 2) to encourage the older guys to go to Outlook Camp and take seriously the use of their God-given gifts in all aspects of their life. While we think it's a good idea and will have very little practical effect, we would like your feedback. The quickest way is to visit the 'polls' page and vote (login required) or if you have more detailed feedback please email president@pyv.org.au.

Kilnoorat Presbytery Youth Camp

(26/4/05) Photos from the recent Kilnoorat Presbytery Youth Camp are now available (login required). Thanks to Dave Assender for sending them in, hopefully we will see some of you guys at Summer Camp.

(25/4/05) A full quality copy of the official camp photo can be downloaded above for printing.

Outlook Camp Photos

(25/4/05) All photos from Outlook Camp are now available! (login required). If you have any photos of your own from the camp, please email them through to webmaster@pyv.org.au

(24/4/05) The Summer Camp T-Shirts have been printed and posted out to those who ordered them. If you have any questions or problems please email Kirsty (kirsteen_jane@hotmail.com). Just a reminder that in the end only the pink girls and the brown guys t-shirts were printed. There are a few extra, so for those wanting to purchase one please visit the online PYV Store above (login required).

(20/04/05) It's that time again! Time to gather your church mates & friends and start training for the annual PYV Volleyball competition. The easiest way to register your team is to do it online. Visit the Volleyball 2005 page for more details (link above).

(19/4/05) PYV's latest addition Outlook Camp is coming very soon! Because it's new we thought you might have some questions:

Who is it for?

21 - 35 year old young adults, whose faith has lead them to consider how God will use them in all aspects of their lives (whether career, family, study or ministry.)

Why should I come?

Because you need to get excited about how God will use you in your everyday life.

How big will it be?

We expected between 25-50 (but don't really know)

Who is speaking?

Rev Scott Kroeger. Scott has 10 years experience as a missionary in NSW where he planted 4 churches before spending 5 years as a chaplain at RMIT. Scott is now serving in the Hume Presbyterian Church and runs a business which rehabilitates lame horses.

What is he speaking on?

The talks are designed to encourage young adults to use their various gifts to spread the gospel and build the church, and consider the eternal consequences you can have on your friends and family.

What other program or activities will there be?

Essentially there is no program other than the talks. There will be plenty of time to just chill and chat.

When is the camp form due?

Unfortunately no date is given on the form but please get them in as quickly as possible.

For more information about when, where etc visit the Outlook Camp page

If you have any questions please email webmaster@pyv.org.au and we will add them to the list.

The day featured; reports & discussion of PYV events from July to December 2004, a 2005-06 budget from Kingsley, an outlining of PYV's 5 Year Plan with Vinesy, the presentation of the 2005 Calendar by Russ and an outline of the new Job Descriptions & procedures manual by Jess. Also importantly was an election for the new 2005 council. As soon as the CENC committee meets and ratifies the results we will introduce your new council. For those interested please find a copy of the AGM booklet that details everything outlined above:

2005 AGM Booklet

(13/2/05) If you are on the PYV mailing list in the next few days you should receive a pack containing a 2005 Calendar, Senior Camp form & an Outlook Camp form. Envelopes are addressed to the oldest person at each unique address. If you are younger and the Senior Camp & Outlook Camp forms don't apply to you, make sure you take them to church and give them to someone older or your minister. If you don't receive anything and was expecting to or your details are incorrect, please wait a week and visit the 'email list & mailing list' page. A big thanks to Alex & Jess Venn, Rachel Stasse and Stuart Alsop & Marton Murany at Shiloh Ranch for their help in getting the mailout done. Few understand how big the job is!

Correction - Fellow Workers (Vol.2)

(13/2/05) Please note that in the latest edition of 'Fellow Workers - News from around the Presbyterian Church of Victoria' under the Summer Camp report it states that Senior Camp is for 'Year 11 to 20 years of age.' This is in fact incorrect, as Senior Camp is still open to ages Year 11 and above. My apologies for the mistake, it was completely my fault - Russ.

(9/2/05) Just updating the T-Shirt situation; they are just about to be printed and will be sent out soon. CD's of John Diacos' great talks on Deuteronomy are available now! If you order one via the online store, you will receive in the post within days! (login required)

(7/2/05) We have made things a bit easier at pyv.org.au for everyone! Now to create an account you just need a username, email & password (address, phone, church etc are no longer required). To add/delete/change your details on our mailing/email list visit the page on the right hand side and follow the prompts (you no longer need to ‘update details’ and tick or untick the box). This way I can keep track of everything better and you don’t have to give information that was unnecessary.

(5/2/05) In the past, the PYV council has been elected each year from july-june (ie a financial year). However, to make things easier we have decided to switch to a calendar year, so we need an AGM only six months after the last. The AGM is an imortant day in the life of PYV. It's a chance to review the year past and plan for the future, elect a new council and give thanks to God for PYV. The AGM is an event for all PYV's leaders, for more details click the link above. If you can't make the AGM make sure to download and read the 2004-2005 Annual Report afterwards. Letters have just been posted to each church's Session Clerk so ask him about becoming your church's delegate. If they didn't get the form, download it here:

2005 AGM Nomination Form

(5/2/05) The 2005 Calendar has been finalised. While the calendar looks amazingly cool, we hope the events will be even better. There's something for everyone; fun events, training days, a new camp and events in Melbourne, Ballarat & Bendigo + more. Soon you'll receive one in the mail, so be patient and keep checking the letterbox!

(02/02/05) The 2005 Outlook Camp form is now available for download. The forms will be printed shortly & hopefully will be included in a mail out soon. Outlook is presented by Shiloh Ranch in conjunction with PYV. Outlook camps are designed to encourage young adults to use their various gifts to spread the gospel and build the church. There will be plenty of time to just chill and chat. Rev Scott Kroeger will be leading the talks.

(02/02/05) The 2005 Senior Camp form is now available for download. The forms will be printed shortly. We are trying to hold off a short while in sending them out so that we can include the 2005 Calendar in the same mailout, so please be patient. Remember registrations are now open via the form and/or credit card payment online.

(23/1/05) Full details are now available about this march's Senior Camp. Rev Tony Bird will now be speaking on the book of James as we decided that many people would have already heard him speak on Revelation at the PTC night classes last year. For a detailed description of what he will be speaking on visit the Senior Camp page. The forms are yet to be printed, but you can expect them in a few weeks along with the 2005 PYV Calendar. Please be patient! We now accept credit card payments for Senior Camp. This is a brave new feature for PYV so we expect the process to get better and better over time. For those who choose to use the credit card facility, I would really appreciated any feedback being sent to webmaster@pyv.org.au so we can iron out any bugs.

Make your vote count!

(6/1/05) pyv.org.au has a new feature....polls! Click the link above (login required) and have your say on the topic. In the store at the moment are the yet-to-be-printed Summer Camp T-Shirts & CD's of John Diacos's talks. Payment can be made by Visa & MasterCard (2.5% fee) or send in a cheque. Sorry but we are unable to sell a DVD of the group music clips due the copyright on the music. Please read the notes in red to make our life easier. Looking to the future.....we see being able to pay for camps by credit card.

(7/1/05) While the 2005 PYV Calendar has yet to be finalised we can reveal some details about the early events in the year; the AGM, Senior Camp and PYV's new camp for over 21's called.........Outlook!

AFES/PYV Night Photos

(7/12/04) Photos from the joint AFES/PYV night at Scots church on 27th November are now available (login required).

(28/11/04) Due to feedback we realise that printing out a full-colour Summer Camp form is not an option for many of you as it would use up a lot of ink! Therefore follow the link above to print out a text-only version of the summer camp registration form. Note that this is only the registration part of the form which you need to complete and send back to us. So make sure you copy down the other details you need to get to camp.

Council Planning Day

(28/11/04) On Saturday 20th, the guys & gals from the Council, along with members of the CENC Committee, made it through an all-day planning day for 2005 and beyond. Click on the link above to see some photos from the day (login required). In the future we can look forward to a new camp in 2005, a close working relationship with PYNSW and a bigger and more vibrant PYV.

(11/11/04) On Wednesday (if you are on our mailing list) you should have received a big pack of the best looking PYV flyers ever. It's a huge job mailing out to over 500 addresses. A big thanks goes to Doc Watson, Rachel Stasse, Alex & Jess Venn and Marilyn Venn, who together designed, printed, compiled and posted the mailout. Make sure that you keep your address details up to date! Any questions email webmaster@pyv.org.au

(11/11/04) The Summer Camp Form & the optional horse riding indemnity form are now available for download (click the link above)

(24/10/04) A few quick updates on the Summer Camp front. Firstly, have a look at the camp poster. In the next few weeks it will be posted out to all churches, so make sure your minister puts it up! Forms will be out approx Nov 10. A few things you can look forward to on camp; a revamped short 'music video' competition, nickers & sven on morning radio, horse riding/archery/ropes course and re-living the best activities and themes from the last ten years! Can't wait..

(29/9/04) Esther Sprague, that great, awesome, Godly, bundle of fun has kindly sent in her report on the recent Junior Camp. I think you can safely say she enjoyed it. If anyone else wants to have their say about camp, email webmaster@pyv.org.au

Prayer @ PYV

(27/9/04) UPDATED It is an amazing privilege that through the death of Jesus we can approach God with our prayers. At PYV we take prayer seriously so we've set up a page of things you can pray for. You can also submit your own prayer requests. (you must login to access the prayer points page. Click the link above or navigate to home > Members > Prayer Points )

(7/12/04) PYV Carols is the chance to bring all your family and friends to a PYV event, enjoy a BBQ and some great music. This year it will be held on 11 December at South Yarra Presbyterian. For more details click the link above.

(8/10/04) Shiloh Ranch and PYV have formed a great working relationship; Junior Camp was just there and Summer Camp is coming up soon. Shiloh runs many great programs that PYV is really excited about. One of those is the Leadership Training course held from 3-5 December. If you are interested in becoming a PYV leader one day soon, it's a great way to build up the necessary skills. For more info download:

Application form

(22/11/04) PYV and RMIT Christian Union have teamed up for an exciting joint event on 27 November. Short talks will debunk three of the most common "lies you hear"

1) all paths lead to God

2) God wants us to be rich and have an easy life

3) it's ok to sleep with someone as long as you love them

The night will be aimed for those in senior high school and above, but everyone is welcome. Click on the link for more details or download the flyer here

(29/9/04) Sommerville Pressie Church is having a big breaky for blokes! So all you dads, sons, uncles, husbands, grandpas etc will have to get up early on Saturday 13 November, but it will definately be worth it. I know some of the older PYV blokes are thinking of going, so please join us. For more info email Vinesy (president@pyv.org.au) and download the flyer from the link above (note: date on flyer is wrong).

(15/10/04) The Presbyterian Theological College is having an open night on October 22. You can get info on full time study, post-grad, on night classes and on the short courses that they run. And free sausages. If any older PYV'ers are thinking about theological study, this is a great chance to learn more. Click on the above link for more information.

(3/10/04) Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances the social planned for 9 October has been cancelled. As a Council we really hate cancelling events, and we hope it hasn't caused too much inconvience. Due to the election it was difficult finding a venue and many people we wanted to help out couldn't make it. We look forward to seeing you all at the Carols in Decemeber. Thanks for your understanding and please let everyone know of the cancellation.

(29/9/04) Vinesy our great president will be speaking at the PCV General Assembly next week, and speaking of speakers we are truly blessed that this year's Summer Camp speaker will be.....Rev John Diacos. I can't wait!

Junior Camp Photos!

(22/9/04) Junior Camp is done! From what I hear we have a lot of happy campers. See for yourself by checking out the photos (remember to view photos you must be logged in. The create a login, click 'Create an account here' up the top right hand side.)

(15/9/04) Did you that this year's Summer Camp will be PYV's 10th Anniversary since Summer Camps started? Summer Camp is PYV's camp for Year 7 and above and is our biggest event. Up to 120 people from all ages & from all over the state come to hear great talks, lively music and enjoy our famous New Year's Eve Banquet. That time of year is fast approaching! Well since it's such a special occasion we thought we'd re-live the best moments of the past ten years on the camp this year. So be prepared for some fun from themes such as:

Medieval (1995-1996)

Early Settlers (1996-1997)

Pirate (1997-1998)

Romans (1998-1999)

Space (1999-2000)

Scottish (2000-2001)

Sesame Street/The letter 'P' (2001-2002)

Academy Awards (2002-2003)

Roaring 1920s (2003-2004)

10 Year Anniversary (2004-2005)

And also we are truly blessed that this year's Summer Camp speaker will be.....Rev John Diacos. I can't wait!

(15/9/04) As Junior Camp is this friday, if there are any last minute dramas or questions please contact Andrew Vines; president@pyv.org.au or 9786 2976. Also remember that the correct depature from camp is 10am 20th September, not 2pm as elsewhere on the form.

(6/9/04) If you received a copy of the Junior Camp Form in the mail you will have also received an indemnity form for horse riding as well. If you just downloaded the form off the web, you can now download the indemnity form.

(28/8/04) Just a correction to the Junior Camp Form. The correct depature from camp is 10am 20th September, not 2pm as elsewhere on the form.

(18/7/04) A big thanks to the 26 people that attended the AGM yesterday. The meeting went really well with constructive discussion, great suggestions and iced donuts from Fiona Meeuwissen! The future of PYV looks very promising with more people nomiating for council than there are positions to fill. We will shortly announce the new council once the Christian Education and Nuture Committee meets to ratify the new positions. Overall, the best AGM ever, and all done in just three hours! (remember we used to have weekend long Annual Conferences?) If you couldn't be there download the 2004 AGM booklet or the 2004 Financials (leaders login only).

An excerpt from the PYV forums...

(12/7/04) "So, who's coming to the AGM? I know it's not exactly fun and exciting, but it IS important! PLEASE come and support the work of PYV by showing an interest in what goes on behind-the-scenes. PYV could not operate if it weren't for the councillors who put in hours and hours of their time. You who benefit, come along! Even consider being on council yourself. You'll never know what gifts God has given you unless you give yourself the chance to use them. Hope to see lots of people there!"

(12/7/04) PYV's AGM is an imortant day in the life of PYV. It's a chance to review the year past and plan for the future, elect a new council and give thanks to God for PYV. The AGM is an event for all PYV's leaders, for more details click link above. If you can't make the AGM download and read the 2003-2004 Annual Report.

A great way to support the nation of Malawi

(19/5/04) Rev John Wilson writes "The good news is that, with a donation that is coming in this week, the cost of sending the container to Africa will have been fully met. This is great news and means that no other missions funding will need to be called on to cover the expense of underwriting this mission. We are grateful to the Lord for the generous contributions of his people and churches. The container will arrive at the PTC (Box Hill North) on 4th June, and we will have a week to complete the packing. Please have all your contributions for the Malawi Mission dropped off at the College by FRIDAY 4th JUNE. You and your church can still contribute, along the following lines...click the above link for more details"

(12/4/04) Victoria's largest and only truly interdenominational, statewide 17-35 year old missions mobilisation event. The gO! Explo is an annual Victorian Christian interdenominational event which acts as a catalyst to connect young people (17 - 35) to God's global purpose. It's an EXPLO! - think 'exploration...', 'explosion!' and you'll start to get the picture. Click on the link above for more info. If you intend to go please let PYV know!

(2/4/04) The PYV photo galleries have finally been fixed up, so check out some old PYV shots or see the Senior Camp 2004 Photos for the first time!

(20/3/04) The first batch of Summer Camp CD's has just been posted! The CD's contain Peter Owen's talks and the discussion panel, photos and radio show highlights. The audio on the CD is encoded as a .m4a file (commonly called mp4). This is a new format and the successor to the popular mp3 format and therefore people receiving the CD may have trouble playing the audio. So we suggest you download the latest version of Quicktime which is FREE and available for Windows & Mac, by clicking the heading above. If you have any more problems please don't hesitate to email Russell

We have tamed the technology beast!

(18/3/04) Having a brand new sophisticated website is great as it enables us to have cool things like forums etc. However, the downside is that the potential for problems is vastly greater. And that's what has been happening the last week! Alas, we haven't been able to get things up straight after Senior Camp as we had wished but thanks to the amazing work of Lindsay Stewart we are overcoming these problems. So keep checking pyv.org.au in the week ahead!

(18/3/04) The 2004 PYV events poster is out now. After you get one in the mail, photocopy it, give to friends, put it up at church, put it up at school. If you can't wait or want to email it to someone, click on the heading above to download the .pdf version. It looks amazingly cool and for that we thank the best-est girl in Geelong; Rachel 'graphics guru' Stasse!

(18/3/04) The first 2004 PYV Mailout-fest has begun. So keep your eyes focused on your letterbox in the next few days. If your details are wrong or if you wish to be removed from our mailing list use the 'email list & mailing list' page on the right hand side. Also please read our privacy policy to understand how PYV uses your information by heading to the 'info' page.
